Xbox Expand Facebook and Twitter Assimilation

The Xbox Twitter-Facebook integration, revealed at the E3 video game conference in Los Angeles, will bring the two services into the Xbox Live online gaming service. In addition to the service's multiplayer functionality, you'll be able to send and receive status updates with the social networks straight from your Xbox console.
Microsoft's Xbox is about to get a lot more social. Twitter and Facebook will soon be coming to the system, Microsoft announced Monday, bringing an interactive boost to the entertainment console.
Some games will be ready to take advantage of the added options, too. An upcoming version of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, for example, will allow you to send screenshots and score updates directly into your Facebook stream via the Facebook Connect interface. You'll also have the option of inviting friends to join your games without so much as shifting your eyes off the screen. It's all expected to become available sometime this coming fall.

Triangular buttons key to touchscreen typing success - inventor

By James Sherwood
A British inventor has submitted a patent application for a wacky touchscreen keyboard design which, he claims, could spell the end for accidental key presses.
David Baker’s Crocodile Keyboard is so named because its keys are shaped like the reptile’s sharp teeth.
Baker told Register Hardware today that each triangular key has significantly more dead space around it than you’d find on a standard Qwerty layout. Consequently, users are more likely to press the correct key each time they tap.
Although originally designed as a physical keyboard for the Palm Pilot – the project was speared due to manufacturing costs, says Baker — the inventor is adamant that a virtual Crocodile Keyboard could be successfully ported onto the iPhone. Apple's publicly available iPhone OS software development kit makes this possible.

Time will show - YouTube The New MTV?

npr music
The video-sharing Web site YouTube is probably best known as the place to find silly home videos of klutzy cats, clever babies and lip-syncing soccer moms. But YouTube is becoming increasingly important to the music business. In fact, some industry professionals say it has become the MTV of the digital generation.
In the old days, new bands created buzz by playing clubs and getting on local radio. Today, record labels often gauge a new band's popularity by looking on YouTube. Jeff Dodes, head of multimedia for a division of Sony Music, says that's where one of his talent scouts saw the video for the song "The Stanky Leg," by The GS Boyz. "The Stanky Leg" had created so much excitement on YouTube that Sony decided to sign The GS Boyz. And Dodes says that when the group makes its record for the label, he'll take The GS Boyz back to YouTube to promote it.
But once a group is signed to a label promotion teams use a number of tricks to make sure that YouTube users actually see videos by their artists. Jeremy Maciak of Vagrant Records points to a video by the label's band A Cursive Memory. Maciak says the production is simple, consisting of "the band jumping in front of paparazzi and behind velvet ropes all throughout Hollywood with a boom box on their shoulder, singing their song, which is called 'Everything.' Palm Pre Smartphone Is a Live

by Ginny Mies, pcworld
The long-awaited Palm Pre lives up to the hype with a responsive touchscreen and an engaging interface, but a few hardware design flaws keep it from being the perfect smartphone.
The Palm Pre smartphone ($200 with a two-year contract from Sprint as of 6/4/09), along with the company's much-anticipated webOS operating system, has had quite the buzz building up since its splashy launch in January. While the Pre isn't perfect, it definitely does not disappoint: I found the WebOS interface clean, engaging, and intuitive. My main issues were with the hardware itself.
Social Networking Synergy
One of the most important components of webOS is its ability to synchronize, and synthesize, information from various sources into one seamless, integrated view. Palm calls this concept "Synergy," and it is incorporated into the contacts, e-mail, and messaging applications. For example, you can sync the Pre to your Google, Facebook, and Microsoft Exchange accounts; it will grab your contacts from those accounts, and all of them will appear in the Pre's Contacts app.
