SimCity Coming to Macs in Feb. 2013
Electronic Arts today announced that its SimCity franchise will be available on Macs in Feb. 2013. SimCity will be available as a digital download via EA's Origin store. To sign up, head to SimCity.com/beta. Development of the Mac version of SimCity is being led by the team at Maxis. EA promised the "same deep, rich gameplay" on the Mac that is available on the PC. SimCity was released for the Macintosh platform in the late 1980s. The last major SimCity release, however, was SimCity 4 in 2003, while a SimCity Societies spinoff made its debut in 2007. In March 2012, EA delighted fans with the news that the franchise would return to the PC in 2013. For the first time, the game will include multi-player support for up to 16 people. In July, Facebook opened its doors to SimCity Social, integrating the fan-favorite features of the computer game into a city-building simulation for the Farmville-wary.
