Nokia wooing app developers with HTML5 and cross-platform compatibility

Nokia is to support and MeeGo of mobile operating systems for Web applications and the Qt systems development platform to make HTML5 compatible with its Symbian so apps on Qt developed runs on both. Nokia said Qt to focus on the decision, as the sole application development framework will ensure that applications continue to future evolutions of Symbian and upcoming MeeGo products be compatible. It said, Qt offer built-in support for HTML5, faster time to market of rich user interfaces and visually appealing applications.


The company that said under the pressure of Android and iPhone app developer hearts and minds, also it the distinction between Symbian versions would fall.Nokia CTO rich green said that moves itself would speed up "our ability to provide the strongest possible way for developers and the richest possible experience for consumers". The move means Nokia's developer can tap into app base, currently estimated at around 1.3 billion installed.
